Apparel Accessory Tip: Top 3 Places to Hand out Bargain Sunglasses

Sunglasses are typically a year-round accessory for many people, but they are never more prominent in the public than they are in the warm months (i.e. NOW!). Since there has been a huge need for protecting your eyes from the damaging rays of sun and the overwhelming fact they are becoming a popular fashion accessory, I can’t go anywhere without seeing at least a dozen people wearing these things. So, where do I see them the most? Where should you be giving out imprinted sunglasses to promote your business? Let’s take a look at the three best places you can get great visible-traction for your brand using bargain sunglasses.

Here are the top 3 spots to giveaway cool bargain shades this summer:

  1. The Beach – Yes, it seems a little cliché, but the beachgoers love getting free stuff (who doesn’t) and the free shades will give them something to look at while they are baking in the sun.
  2. Sporting Events – Hundreds of people in one place – outside – a perfect giveaway opportunity to “hit a home run with the crowd”
  3. Local Carnival/Fairs – Give people something to look at and play with as they wait in line for a ride or a big funnel cake.

Apparel Accessory Feature: Sandals

The ubiquitous flip-flop is now worn everywhere from beaches to Wall Street offices to the White House. While only one of the above mentioned places is truly appropriate for such foot apparel (I’ll give you a hint, it’s not the White House, nor is it Wall Street) there is no denying the popularity of sandals. Walking around outside on a nice day (and in some cases even on cold days) one can see the popularity of sandals isn’t limited either; the footwear is embraced by many different types of people. College campuses have seemingly caught on. I have seen flip-flops from Fordham, Princeton and NYU.

Now that we’re on the precipice of summer (less than a month away) sandals naturally make a great promotional apparel gift, and not just for spas and athletic clubs. Sandals are the perfect footwear for lounging by a pool, perusing the boardwalk or just chilling outside on a hot summer day. Furthermore, promotional sandals will definitely standout in a sea of plain, rubber soles and straps.

Apparel Word: Mercerized

Mercerization is a process in which cotton is subjected to a sodium hydroxide treatment to permanently impart greater absorptive properties and to increase the tensile strength of the threads. The increased absorptive properties gives the cotton a greater affinity for dyes, allowing manufacturers to create extremely rich color saturations in the textile.

Depending on the treatment process used, the cotton may also develop a lustrous, shimmering appearance. This distinctive property is the reason mercerized cotton is also referred to as pearl or pearle cotton. Besides the attractive visual properties, the chief benefits of choosing mercerized cotton for your promotional apparel is that consumers can be confident about the fit after repeated washings. Since the chemical treatment preshrunk the cotton, mercerized apparel will not shrink as much as regular cotton. It'll also be less likely to produce lint and will be more resistant to mildew.
